Beyond the Surface, Gdańsk Center for Contemporary Art, 2026
Air movement is one of the fundamental carriers of contact with the landscape. The installation, taking the form of a tactile textile, remains in constant motion—set into vibration by the flow of air generated by fans, it responds to environmental conditions, light, and the presence of the viewer. It evokes natural processes: the movement of plants, the flow of air, and the changing nature of the landscape. Mounted on a mobile rail, the curtain remains an element open to reconfiguration. The possibility of transforming its arrangement throughout the duration of the exhibition emphasizes a space that is not fixed once and for all—it comes into being through its relationship with the user, their decisions, and their presence. In this way, the installation contributes to an understanding of the surface as a field of encounter and sensation: something that not only supports, but above all enables being together, negotiating boundaries, and sharing an experience.
