My sculpture loving nature / Diana is an attempt at discovering a relationship between nature and culture. It refers to the mythological character of Diana – the goddess of nature and hunting – who was represented with a roe deer or a fawn as her attribute. The naked body of a woman, created by nature, becomes synonymous with the goddess. The attribute of a fawn is symbolized here by a pop-cultural production, a Disney character: Bambi. It is a ready-made product, a lamp discovered in a store with children’s room accessories. The gesture of stroking a plastic product of culture, projecting one’s feelings and emotions onto a plastic object, a surrogate of an actual relationship, is intended to produce a sense of discomfort in the audience. We do not know whether the artificial plastic fawn, treated as a domestic animal, signifies its acceptance, or an attempt at taming culture.
